Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share with you our dream: to create a hunting magazine that the “REAL HUNTER” would be proud to call his/her own.
This magazine is the culmination of several years of hard work by a group of dedicated sportsman. After seeing the hunting industry become increasingly commercialized and unreal, we made a pact: To create a forum for the hardcore, “REAL HUNTER” to tell his or her hunting tale.
How did it all start? Five hunting partners became disappointed in the evolution of hunting magazines. We grew up reading great tales of hardcore hunters going into the backcountry for weeks on end, coming out only after shooting an animal worthy of a memorable story. We spent countless hours complaining about how the content of today’s hunting magazine was changing. Several questions came up in our conversations: What happened to the good old days? How did the magazine industry become so commercialized? Why do you see so much “horn porn” littered throughout today’s magazines? When was the last time you saw a 4-pointer make the cut? Why does it seem like there is more space dedicated to advertisements than hunting stories? We then wondered what we could do to fix the problem. We decided to follow the old adage, “If you want it done right, do it yourself.” That led to the formation of Real Hunting Magazine.
So how will we do it? How will we create the best hunting magazine in the industry? Simple. By “sticking to our guns”, by “not selling out” and by “keeping it real.” How is that for a bunch of clichés? We will accomplish this with high quality photos, real stories from real hunters, and up to date hunting techniques & tactics. In every issue, we will have sections dedicated to the next generation, tips on enhancing your game photos, and an “Angry Hunter’s Bark Board” which allows hunters to air their complaints. You will notice by looking at the cover, that Real Hunting Magazine is not your typical publication. When was the last time you saw a 18” wide 4X6 on the front cover? It’s an amazing animal, definitely worthy of its own cover. Check out page 40 to read the full story.
Since our formation, many hunters have approached us and complained about how unrealistic the hunting industry has become. It seems every time you go to a news stand and flip through a few hunting magazines, you will see an ever increasing amount of professional hunters, Governor’s Tags, canned hunts, and “horn porn”. True, every magazine does not fit this mold but the exception is becoming harder to find. We feel that the “real” hunter is getting left out and Real Hunting Magazine is our attempt to fix this problem. We have worked tirelessly to create a forum for real hunters to share their tales and trophies. Our primary focus will be on western big game, however we encourage your input on what other hunting topics peak your interest. Let’s make it clear, this magazine is not meant to replace other hunting magazines, but to compliment existing ones. We are not here to badmouth the competition; we simply are offering you a choice and believe a niche exists in the market for the real hunters. If you give us an opportunity to prove to you this magazine is the “real deal”, we won’t let you down. That is our commitment to you.
We hope you are as passionate about hunting as we are. The Real Hunting Magazine team is made up of some of the best sportsman around. We are dedicated to the hardcore hunters that make sacrifices to hunt every chance they get. The hunters that save all their vacation time so that they can have a few extra days at hunting camp. The hunters who spend as much time scouting as they do actually hunting. If you fit this description, this magazine is for YOU!
Every one of us has a hunting story that we are dying to tell. Real Hunting Magazine is your chance.
